Weddings at Hotel Budir

We have had a considerable number of weddings here at Budir, none of them exactly the same for each and every wedding is tailor made in cooperation with the wedding couple or their representatives .

The ceremony

To start with you have to take care of having all necessary papers (allowances) which you can get at the sheriffs-office in Reykjavík (tel.+354 569 2400). Then you need to contact the local ministers here at Snæfellsnes (The reverend Gudjon Skarphedinsson or Ragnheidur Karitas, tel +354 436 6920) if you want them to conduct the ceremony or if you’d like to use the little church here at Hotel Budir. (There is room for up to 70 persons in the church.)
Some couples have brought with them their “own minister” and gotten married down by the beach, but then again I remind people to have the necessary paperwork done.

The wedding & the banquet

Decorations

We decorate with flowers (mainly roses), and people are also welcome to bring their own decorations and of course we do our best to fulfill special requests. The banquet can be held in our restaurant (for larger groups) or in our banquet room on the 2nd floor of Hotel Budir. Hotel Budir provides table cloths, cutlery and candles for the dining tables.

Catering is done by Hotel Budir according to agreement or/and our menus.

Wedding pictures

We have a few photographers that we can contact (price ranges is 35,000 to 75,000 ISK)

Beautician-hairdresser

We can assist in arranging a beautician and hairdresser. (Price ranges from 30,000 ISK.)

Facilities

The hotel lobby and the lobby-bar (200 pers. standing), are often used for receptions/cocktails, (before and after the ceremony) dance and live-music. Price range from 50,000 to 200,000 ISK. For a DJ the price range is from 30,000 to 80,000 ISK)

Dining-room 1st floor

80-100 seats; is mainly used for the dining, but also possibility of having some entertainment there at the same time or the dance afterwards.

Dining-room 2nd floor: 30-50 seats; is used for receptions, dining and dancing.
Small dining-room 2nd floor sits 2-10 persons.

There are total of 28 double rooms in the hotel, consisting of 1 suite, 9 double deluxe, 10 double twin standard and 8 double loft rooms.
All rooms can naturally also be occupied as single rooms.
The room rates depend on at what time of the year and how many rooms are booked for each wedding. If a booking consists of more than 10 double rooms we make special offers on request. (See our price list here).

Outside

If weather permits, it can be nice having the ceremony down by the beach or somewhere in the lava field, and then to have the reception out on the terrace and the dance at our little dock just outside the hotel. Another possibility is to also rent a big tent (costs approx. 50,000 ISK) where a part of the banquet could take place.

Food & Wine

We want to fulfill the wedding couple’s requests the best we can so therefore it’s good to discuss and hear some ideas from them. We will naturally also advise and present our ideas.

Reception

Champagne (From 7,250 ISK pr/bottle) and a variety of canapés (350 ISK pr/pcs).

Dinner

You will find our menus for 2008 here to give you some ideas about the cuisine and wines along with prices.

Breakfast/Brunch

We have a fine breakfast-Buffet which we can call brunch-buffet by adding eggs and bacon, sausages, mimosas and little bit more luxury. Extra cost of brunch is 1,250 ISK pr./person.
