Weddings at Hotel Budir

Weddings at hotel Búðir are a special favorite of ours. The aim each time is to make the day as special and personal as possible. The main focus is to fulfill as many of the couples wishes as possible. We enjoy making this a dream come true!

The Hotel:

There are total of 28 dbl. rooms in the hotel, consisting of 1 Suite, 9 dbl. deluxe, 10 dbl/twin standard and 8 dbl. loft-rooms. Single occupancy is an option for all rooms.
The room rates depend on the season and the number of rooms reserved.
Included in all room prices is the breakfast/brunch. Our regular breakfast buffet could be customized according to wishes, for example by adding eggs and bacon, sausages, mimosas and little bit more luxury. Extra cost of brunch is ISK 1.900 pr. /person. This is only possible when the whole hotel is rented for the wedding.

Facilities:

The facilities the hotel has to offer are as follows.
The hotel lobby and the lobby-bar (120 persons standing), are often used for receptions/cocktails. If the weather permits this could be done outside as well. This area might as well be used after the ceremony for dancing and live-music.
We can assist with Dj and live music.
Dining room 1st floor: 80 seats; has mainly been used for dining, but there is also possibility to have entertainment there at the same time or a dance afterwards. Banquet room 2nd floor: approximately 30 seats; is used for receptions, dining and dancing.
Small dining room 2nd floor: sits 2-8 persons.

The ceremony:

The first necessary step to getting married in Iceland is to collect the necessary paperwork. This is done at the District Commissioner in Stykkishólmur ( http://www.syslumenn.is/syslumadurinn/stykkisholmi/ tel. +354-430-4100 - Fax +354-430-4101 - Email: oko@syslumenn.is). Secondly if it is your wish to use the local church for the ceremony, you must contact the local priest here at Snaefellsnes peninsula (tel. +354-435-6729), the reverend Gudjon Skarphedinsson.
He will assist you in two ways, either he will conduct the ceremony or he will give you permission to use the church here at Hotel Búðir. The church holds up to 70 persons in the church. Or have a nonreligious ceremony.
There is of course always possible to have another individual that does the ceremony, as well as other locations to host the ceremony, such as the beach, lava field or on the harbor at the Hotel.

Reception:

As with other aspects this may be customized, there is an option of champagne, sparkling wine or any other drink of your own choice. As for snacks the option could be a variety of canapés or finger food.

Food & Wine:

Our aim is to fulfill the couples wishes the best we can so we encourage guests to give us ideas regarding what they are looking for, as well as advice on the choice of menu and wine. Dinner: In order to give you an understanding of our kitchen we send you the group menu and the a la carte menu, this also serves to give you an idea of the prices.

The wedding & the banquet:

As mentioned above the banquet can either be held in our main restaurant (for larger groups) or in our banquet room on the 2nd floor of Hotel Budir.
We have a flower decorator at the Hotel and she will assist in any way on request.
Any special wishes regarding decoration will be charged separately.

Outside:

On a beautiful day the weather might allow an outside ceremony which can easily be arranged, whether it is on the beach or in the lava field. The reception can be held inside, in front of the hotel or even on the dock down by the sea. Renting a large party tent to host the wedding is another option.

Catering is done by Hotel Budir according to agreement or/and our menus.

Wedding pictures: we have a few photographers that we can contact.

Beautician-hairdresser: We can assist in arranging a beautician and hairdresser.

We do hope that this information provide an idea of the whole wedding experience.
