Road from Reykjavík to Hotel Budir

Drive towards Reykjavik from Keflavik using the highway number 41. From Reykjavik towards Borgarnes (highway number 1). On the way you will go through the Hvalfjordur tunnel where you have to pay a toll (900 ISK – September 2011, for the average family car).

Drive through Borgarnes town and take the road number 54 to the left towards Stykkisholmur. After about an half an hour drive you will pass the intersection to the right towards Stykkisholmur. Keep straight towards Arnarstapi and Olafsvik and drive for about half an hour. There you will come upon an intersection where you choose the road to the left, road number 574 Arnarstapi – Hellnar. Few hundreds meter on, you will see the sign “Búðir” on your left side.

Note: Max speed on the highway in Iceland 90 km/hr (55 mi/hr). All the way to Hotel Budir, the road is a two-way and with asphalt surface.
